Crochet Shawl

Yes more Crochet! whoot.
like i said I LOVE to crochet, This is the project that is currently on my hook for someone, They choose the pattern and asked me to make it. and I may say they choose good. It is a free pattern and You can find the pattern here (click me) You do not have to join the site but I recommend if your a crafter that you do. Sign up is free and you can save projects you would like to make thru them. I have ALOT of items in my To-do-list :) If you are new to pattern reading and need help just give me a shout and I will try to help you, I only been reading patterns for a little over a year and yes at first I was scratching my head in confusion, (that is not unusual) but I soon figured it out and as you can see it's coming along Very nice.

The colors I'm using for this pattern are all Red Heart Super savers.. in the colors Coffee, Cafe, royal blue and soft Navy. of course feel free to use the color combo's of your choice, these are just the colors that the Person who I'm making it for choose.

Now some Crafts!

Well Some of you are most likely thinking "where is the crafts in this blog" Well Don't worrie I do have crafts to post, lol after all my blog is named "My Crafts and kids".

In this Entry I will show you a few things I'm working on. as I LOVE to crochet, it's my Relaxation and Reprieve from the Stress of my life, having 5 children (6 if you count husband) is not easy, After all I'm a wife, mother, maid,Dr,Ref,Handyman(yup hubby is SOOO not a Mr. fix it). accountant,Cook and a hole host of everything else a mom is. There are days I sit down in my chair only to be beckon 20 seconds later> "MOMMMMMMMM" or "HONEYYYYYY".

Now I am a stay at home mom, wich is cool, I can get most my "wifely/mommmy" Duities done when my kids are in school, But with most my backpain and other pain(that is a hole other post). It makes it hard to do much in 1 day. so I break it up.
EVERY morning It's the kitchen, as if you ask me that is the one place that gets Messed up faster when your a family of 7. I then try to do other small odd jobs before lunch.

after that I get to sit and kick my feet up, pop on the computer and pull up my favorite pattern or whatever project i'm working on.

The Project you see pictured is a awesome pattern I got on Etsy.com I was givin permission by the designer to blog about it and Link you to her wonderful pattern so you may purchase a copy yourself if you like what you see.

it's Called the Crocodile stitch shawl. she also has other items you can make with this stitch. The Stitch is Pretty Simple once you get the hand of it.
now i recommend not using WW (worsted weight) yarn. as it's thicker and it takes away from the effects of the shawl. I only used Worsted Weight because it's what I have on hand to Play with the pattern.

So if you would like to try this pattern yourself Plz click below and it will take you to her Etsy.com Shop

Now if your thinkin "oh I will just use WW yarn anyway.. here is a Exert from The Designer herself.. when she replied to my Email,

" yes... RUN from Worsted Weight to work the shawl. If you are working the shawl, I would strongly recommend that you use mohair fingering yarn, because it is a large piece and you want the shawl to drape well and be light on your shoulders. The yarn I used, Paton Lace is readily available in major crafts stores (A.C. Moore, Jo Ann Fabrics, etc.) it is quite affordable and has some beautiful color schemes like the white/light Grey/dark Grey/black shawl (Paton Lace in Patina)showcased in other pictures in my shop." ~bonitapatterns

With that said.. If you look at my Shawl I have started you will see that mine is not as "fluffy" I guess you can say as hers. because I did not use the Thinner Finger weight yarn like she recommends,

But Trust me This pattern is Simple once you get the hang of it. I can not Waite to get the correct yarn for this wonderful pattern!!!

***PLZ NOTE DO NOT EMAIL ME ASKING ME TO SEND YOU A COPY OF THIS OR ANY PATTERN I PAID FOR, IF IT IS A FREE PATTERN I WILL LET U KNOW AND LINK YOU TO IT.***

Batten down the hatches!!

Well Looks like old man winter has it in for Georgia!.. so that means. mass Hysteria! lol. at least in my lil out of the way town, Schools are already talking about Closing schools down, and it's not even started to even rain let alone snow.
Guess I'll have to live down here a few more years to truly understand why they freek out when they hear that Dirty 4 letter S word (S.n.o.w)

I grew up in Upstate ny where it took at least a foot or more of snow for schools to even Think about snow. there was a joke about when it snowed that they determined school closing by if the superintendent slide down a hill on his butt. If he slid.> NO SCHOOL.. if he didn't slide. Then we had school LOL.

But here in ga. all they have to do is say snow and schools put out mass pre-recorded messages to look out for possibility of School closures,
So while I sit here and waite to see what happens in the next 24 hours. I will not worrie as I'm from NY I know how to handle myself in this weather, it's the Georgians who don't that i'm worried about. lol.

but My kids do not have school Mondays anyway so not like it will be a big deal, our pre-recorded call was to inform us "we may close school Tuesday if it snows Monday"
ummmm yea you do that.

Don't get me wrong Snow is "ok" just as long as it is not snowing where I live LOL!. I left NY to get away from this wet and cold demon lol. so while I sit here and stay warm in my VERY PRETTY I MAY SAY> Pink robe with Green, pink, brown and blue Polkadots!> (yea i bet you want a picture of me in it eh) ok. here is one commin up :) I am not sure where it will post most likely at the top. and the lil munchkin with me is my Darling 5 yr old Cheyenne :)

HAPPY FRIDAY FELLOW CRAFTERS

Wow this week has flew buy!. just as fast as them holiday's! With the Holiday's now behind us, It's time for me to Focus more on My Crocheting for Flea markets and craft shows. I started attempting to sell some of my Crochet items at the local Flea market.. while I have not sold much yet, I figured if I could have a variety of items to offer I will do better. I did a week at the flea, The week of Christmas Hoping to make some Gift money. No go. I need a better selection I think.

WHATS ON YOUR HOOK!

Well What is on my hook is a few things!, I Promised my Son A afghan. So far I only have 1/4 done. I will take pic's later when it grows up a little more LOL,

I also Purchase a pattern off Etsy, I responded to The Alchmey page (where ppl post what they want and crafters on etsy try to bid n get the job)
Well someone choose me to make them some shawls!! YIP YIP

So I started to search some shawls after they told me they were unsure of patterns. so the 3 of us went on a hunt to see what we can find that will be inexpensive to make. (yarn wise)

***NOTE BLOGGERS WAS HAVIN FITS WITH POSTING MY PICS WILL ADD PICS IN A BIT**

Well I fell in love with this pattern it's from a Etsy seller name Bonita her Shop can be found here *etsy bonita* It's for a shawl done in what is called the Crocodile stitch!
and I may say It's very neat looking. I am doing mine in the color Marrakesh, by RHSS (red hearts super saver) althou the pattern calls for Fingerweight yarn. I don't have any so I'm just using what I have on hand.

Check out my progress :)

Welcome!

Welcome To my blog, I"m Ann.

Let me start off by telling your about my family. I'm 34 and I was born and raised in Upstate NY. I met my husband in 1996, not long after graduation. we started Dating not long after we met, and Soon got married and had our family.

I have 5 kids, Zachary just Turn 13 in November. he's my little buddy. he loves most things mom dose. (excpt foods). and he knows how to make me laugh. He's very sensitive, and can sometimes be bossy to his siblings

Dylan is 10 and is sort of shy. He can't stand seeing affection at all. and Refuse to kiss anyone. even mom. He's very smart. and knows more then he leads on. he's funny and caring.

Madyson is my 9 yr old, she is very much a daddy's girl and rather spend her days sprawled out on her daddy's lap. That is where you will normally find her. She just took up Loom knittin.. we will talk about that later.

Hannah is my lil stinker #1 she is very headstrong and dose what she wants. normaly I have to yell her name more then once to get her attention beacuse she chooses to Tune mom out.

Cheyenne is my baby. and Stinker #2. She is A total mommy's girl. and has the nickname baby-girl. She's smart and funny. loves to cuddle. but watch out. she can be a total Stick!

now were no ordinary family. We live our daily lives with kids with Disabilitys.

Zachary, Dylan, Mady and Hannah all have ADHD. so Live is not dull. they are all go go go. but are all on Meds to help them focus. I normaly do not get the "med" kids. as by the time school is out their meds have worn out and they are on superdrive.

Zachary, Dylan and Mady all also have a condition called Tricatillamaina (Trica-tilla-maina_ Not sure it's spelled rite. but it's a condition where you compulsively Pull out at body hair, Esp their hair on their heads.
Madyson has the most sever case, she has gone as far as pulling all her waist length hair out. I never cut her hair EVER! The hair she had was from the time she was born, and one day she just started to pull it out, and after a week it was gone.

she has struggled the most with the compulsion of pulling her hair., I Tried everything to get her to stop. her Dr then started her on Intuniv a great ADHD med. All my adhd kids excpt hannah are on this med due to the Tricatilla.

Recently I started up Loom knitting. just for a change in pace. I normally just crochet. but I needed a change. Mady One afternoon asked to learn to crochet. but her Coordination is just not there. so I showed her once how to use the loom and it all took off from there, She now is looming like crazy.

Madyson, Hannah and Dylan are all Classified at school as mildly Intellectually Delayed. they are behind in their skills and preform at a much lower level then they are. All 5 kids have IEP's in school for their issues but we love them how they are. and treat them as if they were just any regular child

Mady has gotten requests from her teachers for her hats.. and she was thrilled people wanted her hats. :). so I decided to Open a page on my etsy just for her. to sell her hats, and make herself some money to buy anything a Little girl could want. Rite now She is saving to buy herself some yarn and more looms.
